Gather the Ingredients to Make the Perfect Old-Fashioned Upside-Down Pineapple Cake

Before you begin making your old-fashioned upside-down pineapple cake, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients on hand. You’ll need 1 1/3 cups of flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 egg, ¾ cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ¼ cup butter, 2/3 cup packed brown sugar, 9 slices canned pineapple slices, and 9 maraschino cherries without stems, if desired.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9 x 13- inch cake pan with cooking spray or butter. With everything ready, you’re now ready to start baking your cake, but first go to step number 2.

4. Bake the cake until it’s golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
